3daysofdesign 2024: why you should visit the large installation that Fritz Hansen and the architecture studio Cobe have designed in Copenhagen
Within the framework of the 3daysofdesign festival in Copenhagen, the design firm Fritz Hansen together with the architecture studio Cobe, presents three exhibitions under the title Islands of Wellbeing.
The prestigious Danish design firm Fritz Hansen, in collaboration with the architecture studio Cobe, presents an innovative series of exhibitions titled Islands of Wellbeing at the 3daysofdesign fair in Copenhagen from June 12 to 14
Three emblematic locations for three exhibitions that pose the challenge of how design and architecture can be totally at the service of well-being. This is the proposal with which the Danish firm Fritz Hansen and the Cobe architecture studio participate in the 3daysofdesign festival, which is held in Copenhagen. The objective: focus the design on human beings and their current needs. Thus, the shared vision of both firms centers on the belief that true harmony arises when human-centered design is intertwined with visionary architecture. The project is articulated in three exhibitions that will be presented from June 12 to 14 in Operaparken, Væksthuset and Papirøen, under the title Islas del Bienestar (Islands of Wellbeing) . Each of these islands will function as three different environments: hospitality, workspace and outdoors.

Christian Andresen, director of creative experiences at Fritz Hansen, describes this collaboration as an opportunity to demonstrate ” what happens when visionary architecture meets extraordinary design .” For his part, Dan Stubbergaard, founder of Cobe , highlights the transformation of post-industrial spaces into vibrant places to live, work and meet, highlighting the importance of nature in the urban environment.
Operaparken: the art of resting outdoors
Designed as experiences, each of the three islands offers us different facilities that are as welcoming as they are functional, exploring the intersection between design and architecture. Commenting on the chosen locations, Dan Stubbergaard explains: “When designing Operaparken, Væksthuset and Papirøen, our goal was to transform these post-industrial sites located in Copenhagen Harbor into places designed for people. With 80,000 plants and 600 trees, Operaparken and Væksthuset offer a space where nature is the protagonist in the midst of the city’s bustling urban development. Meanwhile, Papirøen offers a vibrant place to live, meet and work. Together, these port destinations exemplify our commitment to creating extraordinary everyday spaces.”

Specifically, the exhibition at Operaparken will consist of a display of Fritz Hansen’s outdoor collection in a biodiverse environment. This place is a green space, a true lung of the city, consisting of six biodiverse gardens designed around an underground parking lot designed for the Copenhagen Opera House. This park, which houses six gardens, celebrates the maritime history of the island and in it visitors will be able to enjoy an environment designed for relaxation, encounters and rest in the middle of nature.
